Escrow on Arbitrum

Arbitrum One runs the same escrow contract model as Ethereum mainnet, verified on Arbiscan, with gas that is a small fraction of mainnet. If you want Ethereum-style security for a deal that does not justify mainnet gas, this is the network to use.

How an Arbitrum escrow runs

01

Create and fund

Describe the deal, name the other party, choose the stablecoin, the amount, the buyer review period and the challenge window. Approve the token, then fund. The fee is its own transfer at creation.

02

The seller delivers

Off-chain, as agreed. Both sides get email notifications as the escrow changes state.

03

The buyer releases, or the review period runs

Release sends the funds to the seller. If the buyer does nothing and raises no dispute, the funds can be released to the seller once the review period ends.

04

Dispute, if needed

Either side opens a dispute, both submit evidence, a Vaultion reviewer rules, and the chosen challenge window runs before the ruling is finalized. Full detail in what happens in a dispute.

05

Collect

After a ruling, finalizing credits the winner inside the contract and they collect with their own wallet.

Arbitrum or Ethereum mainnet?

Both run the same contract model and the same fee schedule. The trade is gas against the dispute path.

Choose ArbitrumFor most deals. Same stablecoins, same escrow model, gas that barely registers. Disputes go to Vaultion-assisted review.
Choose EthereumWhen you want Kleros arbitration, a dispute path with no reliance on Vaultion, and the deal is large enough that mainnet gas does not matter.

Assisted review is a trust decision

On Arbitrum a Vaultion reviewer settles disputes. It is fast and fee-less, and it means you are trusting Vaultion to rule fairly. A freeze-only guardian can pause a ruling but can never redirect funds.

Frequently asked

Which stablecoins work on Arbitrum escrow?

USDC, USDT and DAI. PYUSD is not available on Arbitrum One.

Is Kleros available on Arbitrum?

No. There is no Kleros court on Arbitrum One, so every Arbitrum escrow uses Vaultion-assisted review. That path is fee-less and not decentralized: a Vaultion reviewer rules. For Kleros, use Ethereum mainnet.

How much cheaper is Arbitrum than Ethereum?

Gas on Arbitrum One is a small fraction of Ethereum mainnet gas, paid in ETH. The Vaultion fee is the same tiered schedule on both. For deals under a few hundred dollars the difference in gas is the whole reason to prefer Arbitrum.

Which wallet do I need?

Any EVM wallet that can switch to Arbitrum One: MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase Wallet, WalletConnect wallets. You need a little ETH on Arbitrum for gas.

Do I need to bridge?

Only if your stablecoins are on another network. Most exchanges withdraw USDC and USDT directly to Arbitrum One, which is usually cheaper than bridging.

Create an escrow on Arbitrum

Switch your wallet to Arbitrum One, pick USDC, USDT or DAI, and the funds lock in the contract until the deal is done.
