FixedFloat alternatives: published fees, AML holds and rate types compared
FixedFloat, now at ff.io, is unusual among no-account swap services in publishing its fee as a number: 0.5% plus network fee on a floating-rate order and 1% plus network fee on a fixed one. People look for an alternative when an order is suspended for a source-of-funds check, when they want more coins than it lists, or when they want to compare its rate against other exchanges before sending. This post compares the options, with every fact from the services’ own pages.
How FixedFloat works
No registration and no personal details to place an order. A float-rate order settles within about ten minutes of your deposit reaching the required confirmations; a fixed-rate order holds the rate you were quoted. FixedFloat describes itself as not custodial because the exchange happens as soon as the deposit confirms, though your coins do sit with it between confirmation and payout. If a fixed order expires before the deposit lands, you can continue at a floating rate or take a refund minus the network fee.
Its terms allow an order to be suspended when funds look connected to criminal activity, pending details of where the funds came from, by email to its compliance address. Where that evidence is not enough, identity verification may be requested, and refunds are made only after verification and only to the address the funds came from. Since 3 March 2025, funds with a direct connection to the exchanger eXch are classified as criminal and suspended for verification.
Where FixedFloat may not fit
A suspended order is resolved by FixedFloat under its own policy, and the refund path runs through verification first.
You see one exchange’s rate; on a given pair someone else may be better that minute.
The coin list is narrower than the 1,000-plus services, and there is no third-party rating of its policy to read before you send.
The alternatives
ChangeNOW folds its fees into the rate, quotes 1,000-plus coins and says the average exchange takes about a minute with minimums under $2. A flagged swap gives you a Verify button and three days to pass identity, address and source-of-funds checks, with a refund minus network fees if you decline.
SideShift also builds fees into its rate, locks a fixed quote for 15 minutes, prices a variable shift at deposit with a seven-day window, and covers 42 blockchains and 200-plus coins. Rejected shifts go to human review. It serves 46 US states through SideShift.us since June 2026.
Vaultion’s swap is an aggregator front end: one request returns floating and fixed rates from the exchanges Trocador routes to, each with a KYC rating built from the exchange’s terms, its refund handling on verification refusal and its history. You choose the exchange, enter your address, and send. No account, and the list stays on the major coins and stablecoins. During the swap the exchange you chose holds the funds, not Vaultion and not Trocador, and it can still halt the swap under its own policy; D-rated exchanges are outside the Trocador Guarantee.
Which to use
A fee you can check as a number and a coin FixedFloat lists: FixedFloat. A long-tail coin or a tiny amount: ChangeNOW. One venue with a US-facing product: SideShift. A rate comparison with each exchange’s KYC stance visible before you commit: the aggregator route. In every case the exchange holds your coins for the minutes the swap takes, so send from a wallet you control and to an address you control.
See it for yourself
Vaultion runs on a published, open-source contract that holds the funds — not Vaultion. You can read it and the locked balance on the block explorer before you send anything.
Frequently asked
What are FixedFloat’s fees?
0.5% plus network fee on a float-rate order and 1% plus network fee on a fixed-rate order, published on its FAQ. No registration is required.
Why was my FixedFloat order suspended?
FixedFloat’s terms allow an order to be suspended when the funds look connected to criminal activity, pending details of their origin sent to its compliance address. Identity verification may follow, and a refund goes only to the sending address after that review.
Is FixedFloat non-custodial?
FixedFloat describes itself that way because the exchange happens as soon as your deposit confirms. Your coins still sit with it between confirmation and payout, as they do with every instant-swap service.
How do I compare several exchanges’ rates at once?
Use an aggregator. Vaultion’s swap is built on Trocador and returns the floating and fixed rates of its partner exchanges in one request, with a KYC rating for each, so you pick the exchange before you send.
Compare the exchanges before you send
Vaultion’s swap quotes BTC, XMR, ETH, SOL and stablecoins across Trocador’s partner exchanges, with each one’s KYC rating shown first. No account, sent to your own address.
