SideShift alternatives: no-account crypto swaps compared

SideShift.ai is one of the better-known ways to swap one coin for another without opening an exchange account: pick a pair, send a deposit, receive the other coin at your own address. People look for an alternative when a shift is held for review, when they want to compare rates across more than one exchange, when they want fixed and floating quotes side by side, or when they want to see an exchange’s KYC policy before sending rather than after. This is a plain comparison of the options, with each service’s facts taken from its own pages.

How SideShift works

No account is needed to shift. Any fees are already included in the exchange rate displayed, so the number you see is the number you get, before network fees. A fixed-rate shift locks the rate for 15 minutes; a variable-rate shift sets its rate when your deposit is received and stays open for seven days. SideShift supports 42 blockchains and 200-plus coins, holds your deposit while the shift is processed, and needs at least one confirmation before it starts.

A shift the system rejects goes to human review, where it is either processed or refunded. SideShift opened to US users in late November 2025 and launched SideShift.us on 23 June 2026 for residents of 46 states, with Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts and New York excluded.

Where SideShift may not fit

You see one exchange’s rate, not a comparison. If another service is quoting better on your pair today, you will not know.

A held shift is reviewed by SideShift under its own policy; there is no third party rating how strict that policy is before you send.

A fixed quote lasts 15 minutes, which is tight if you are sending from a cold wallet or a slow chain.

Four US states are excluded, and the curated coin list is smaller than the 1,000-plus some services route across.

The alternatives

ChangeNOW takes no account either, quotes 1,000-plus coins across 110-plus blockchains, and says the average exchange takes about a minute with minimums under $2. Its automated risk system can flag a transaction; you then get a Verify button into its KYC provider, with a three-day window to pass identity, address and source-of-funds checks, and a refund minus network fees if you decline. Floating and fixed rates are both offered.

FixedFloat, now at ff.io, publishes its fees outright: 0.5% plus network fee on a float order and 1% plus network fee on a fixed one, with no registration. Its terms let it suspend an order to ask where the funds came from, and in some cases request identity verification; refunds after a suspension go only to the sending address and only after that check. Since March 2025 any funds linked to the exchanger eXch are classified as criminal and suspended for verification.

Vaultion’s swap takes a different shape: it is an aggregator front end. One quote request returns floating and fixed rates from the exchanges Trocador routes to, with each exchange’s KYC rating shown before you send, and you pick the one you want. There is no account, the coins are sent to the address you enter, and the list is kept to BTC, XMR, ETH, SOL, LTC, DOGE, TRX, XRP and the major stablecoins. During the swap the exchange you chose holds the funds, not Vaultion and not Trocador, and that exchange can still halt a swap and ask for verification under its own policy. Exchanges rated D are outside the Trocador Guarantee.

Which to use

A single trusted venue and a coin SideShift lists: SideShift, especially if you are in a served US state. Tiny amounts or a long-tail coin: ChangeNOW. A published fee you can check against the quote: FixedFloat. A rate comparison with the KYC policy visible before you commit, on the major coins: the aggregator route. None of these is non-custodial during the swap; the exchange holds the coins for the minutes it takes.

See it for yourself

Vaultion runs on a published, open-source contract that holds the funds — not Vaultion. You can read it and the locked balance on the block explorer before you send anything.

Frequently asked

Does SideShift require KYC?

No account is required to shift. A shift the risk system rejects goes to human review, where SideShift decides whether to process or refund it.

Is SideShift available in the United States?

Yes, since late November 2025, and through SideShift.us from 23 June 2026 for residents of 46 states. Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts and New York are excluded in the initial rollout.

What is the difference between a fixed and a variable rate shift?

A fixed rate is locked for 15 minutes once quoted and needs the exact deposit amount. A variable rate is set when your deposit is received and the shift stays open for seven days.

Is an exchange aggregator safer than a single exchange?

It is more transparent, not safer: you see several exchanges’ rates and a KYC rating for each before you send. The exchange you pick still holds the coins during the swap and still applies its own compliance policy.

Compare the exchanges before you send

Vaultion’s swap quotes BTC, XMR, ETH, SOL and stablecoins across Trocador’s partner exchanges, with each one’s KYC rating shown first. No account, sent to your own address.
